Ursula Napier

My name is Ursula and I am retired. I’ve always been creative, working with various materials to produce embroidery wall hanging mostly of garden flowers, brooches and cards. Recently I’ve enjoyed working with watercolours painting local scenery.

During lockdown life changed for me and everyone, suddenly rules came into place, restrictions, isolation , loneliness , family and friends distanced from us.

It didn’t feel normal .

In the early days of the pandemic I decided to make cards and sent them to various local care homes and hospitals , they had embroidery hearts

with a rainbow and a simple message Thank You. I wanted to express my appreciation, dedication and care for us all. I then thought about my friends and family how important they are and not being able to see them in person or give them hugs I decided to make some rainbow hope hangings, small rainbow cards and hearts out of felt and embroidery fabric with a rainbow and an embroidered message of hope and love and send them out. This made me feel happy as I was supporting friends and the community during these difficult times and still are.
